Dexascan is the most precise method of measuring bone density.
A Dexascan can show whether you are risk for a fracture. The results are reported as a number. A result of 2.5 SD or more means that you have osteoporosis. Dexascan are performed by aiming a low dose x-ray at the most vulnerable areas for bone loss. The amount of bone loss is calculated from the amount of energy that travels through the bone and is picked up by the detector.
